One of the only times it worked, thankfully the camera was rolling
One of the reasons it failed: Taking a Shortcut
One of the major reasons for our project's failure was our decision to take a shortcut. We attempted to expedite the process by utilizing a pre-existing file from a publicly available domain, aiming to ease our troubles with the Rubik's Cube-solving robot.
However, this approach proved to be unsuccessful. The file we obtained did not integrate well with our system, leading to compatibility issues and inconsistencies. It became evident that relying on external sources without fully understanding the intricacies of the code and design resulted in a flawed execution.
Challenges with the Stepper Motor
Another significant setback we encountered was our lack of experience in working with stepper motors. As beginners in this particular domain, we realized the disadvantages associated with these motors firsthand.
The stepper motor exhibited problems of slippage and overheating. Despite our efforts to regulate the current, the motor struggled to maintain its ideal state. This issue not only hindered the smooth functioning of the robot but also posed a risk of long-term damage to the motor. Also the lack of pre planning made our task very hard as ordering of stepper motor driver took forever to deliver.
Learnings from the Failure
While the failure of our project was undoubtedly disheartening, it provided us with valuable lessons. We recognized the importance of thorough preparation and avoiding shortcuts. Taking the time to fully grasp the concepts and components involved in our project would have greatly improved our chances of success.
Furthermore, this experience emphasized the significance of hands-on experimentation and learning from practical challenges. It is crucial to gain familiarity with the equipment and technologies being employed to tackle any potential drawbacks head-on.
Ultimately, the failure of our Rubik's Cube-solving robot due to shortcuts and the difficulties encountered with the stepper motor has prompted us to reassess our approach. We understood the necessity of investing time, effort, and expertise to build a strong foundation for future projects.
